Fire Safety

Fire Safety Tips
It's important to replace old batteries in your home's smoke alarms with new ones. Dust each alarm and test it to make sure it functions properly. Smoke alarms should be placed on each floor and close to bedrooms.
It is also a good idea to check you fire extinguishers at the same time. Many models are only good for a certain number of years before needing to be serviced or replaced. Each home should have one extinquisher located in the kitchen and one for the garage.
Take a few minutes to scan your home's power outlets. Overloaded circuits cause many home fires. Replace any cord or plug that has cracks or visible damage.
Arrange and schedule a family fire drill. Have a plan of action of how everyone can get out of the house safely and in a timely manner.
Doing these easy tasks every month can improve your home's safety and your peace of mind.
